Cape Coast Castle in Ghana. A chilling reminder of colonial repression. The small chamber on the bottom was used as punishment for people being sold as slaves. Those who challenged authority were kept in the chamber until they starved to death. The floor is still covered by the marks they made with their fingers. 

University of Illinois at Chicago is holding a symposium on the aftermath of the Atlantic Slave Trade this weekend. Admission is free.
